Here are some SpotOn customer examples of Cognos metadata automation.
A customer manages surveys. There are several baseline questions on each survey, but each client can add their own questions. SpotOn is able to automatically expose the new survey questions within Cognos metadata, and automatically deploy new packages (or replace existing ones).
A customer has a web-based form authoring system. Each form or set of forms will be different. The customer will want to build Cognos reports based on the form submission data, therefore will require a custom package every time. SpotOn has enabled them to automatically generate a model based on the form(s) structure, and publish a package with the appropriate security settings.
