Today we held a 45-minute webinar on "Integrating Maps into IBM Cognos".  The session drew record attendance and turned out to be our most popular online event to date.

The webinar showcased the use of the latest release of our award-winning SpotOn Vantage software to quickly integrate a fully interactive ESRI map into an IBM Cognos report.  We also introduced our bundled SpotOn Vantage/ESRI ArcGIS Online Map Services offering.  This package enables IBM Cognos clients that are currently without in-house GIS resources to easily and cost-effectively integrate maps into their IBM Cognos reports.

For those that attended, thanks for your active participation.  Your questions were terrific! Your positive comments and emails afterwards were also very much appreciated.

As promised, a recorded version of the event along with the slides will be posted on our site shortly.

In February we will host a webinar that showcases the use of SpotOn Vantage to integrate advanced visualizations from FusionCharts into your IBM Cognos reports.  At the tail end of today's webinar, Darren, our CTO, gave a sneak peak of what you will see next month.  Cool stuff.

Should you be interested in this next webinar, please continue to visit our website for the event specifics. Better yet, sign up for our newsletter to stay informed on all of our future events.

Thanks.

We are extremely excited to announce that yesterday SpotOn Systems was named winner of the IBM CTO Innovation Award at the IBM Information On Demand 2009 Global Conference in Las Vegas, Nevada.

We won the prestigious award for SpotOn Vantage, our off-the-shelf software that seamlessly integrates IBM Cognos 8 Business Intelligence software with mapping information and analysis capabilities from Geographic Information System (GIS) software providers, such as ESRI.

Should you be unfamiliar with the award, IBM defines it as follows on their site: "The CTO Innovation award recognizes those visionary IBM Business Partners who are leading the charge in exploiting Information Management’s latest capabilities in innovative, cutting-edge, unique and exciting new ways. These one-of-a-kind solutions will be drivers in tomorrow's new markets, fostering new innovation at an ingenuity level outside the normal boundaries seen today."

Naturally, we are extremely honored to be recognized by IBM with such an award.  Considering the daunting list of well respected competitors for this award and the impressive list of past winners, we were thrilled to simply be shortlisted ... let alone win.

We wish to express our sincere thanks to those that nominated us, the selection panel, and the distinguished judges for their respective roles in our receipt of the 2009 IBM CTO Innovation Award.

SpotOn Systems presents on Geographic Business Intelligence

On Thursday, October 22, 2009, our very own Chris Ovens and Darren Nelson hosted a live webinar entitled "Introduction to Geographic Business Intelligence (GBI)".

The webinar shared insights into the benefits of integrating the power of geography and spatial analysis (e.g. ESRI GIS software) with the information foundation provided by the IBM Cognos BI solution.  Specifically, Chris and Darren identified and provided examples of the four perspectives of Geographic Business Intelligence:

  1. Map-enabled reporting
  2. Spatial analysis on Business Intelligence (BI) data
  3. Geographic data enrichment
  4. BI on Geographic Information Systems (GIS) assets

To learn more about how GBI may benefit your organization, we invite you to view or download the recorded version of this webinar.

Thank you once again to all of those that attended and contributed to the success of the live event.  We are ecstatic about the overwhelming participation and the positive feedback received to date.

As per your requests, we will be hosting similar web conference events on a frequent basis.  We encourage you to sign up for our monthly newsletter or visit our website regularly such that you won't miss our upcoming webinars.
